The first civil airport in Turkey is Yesilkoy Airport, opened in 1912. In 1953, for the first time, international flights are operated. Since 1985, its name has been Atatürk Airport. There are three main floors in the terminal. The upper floor is for departures. At the top terrace roof, there are places for restaurant, CIP halls and offices. There is a direct connection between the gates and the road reserved for Arrivals. At the bottom floor that is known as service floor, there are automated baggage seperation, construction services unit, sections for staff and storage areas.  

 

Ataturk Airport, located in Yesilkoy, has a distance of 28 km. to the centrum (Sirkeci), and operates Havaş shuttle services between Atatürk Airport and Taksim, Bus Station, Bakirkoy Seabus Port and Akmerkez (Etiler), for he passengers and their relatives who do not own a private car.

International Flights Terminal: Capacity of3.000.000 passengers per year, CiP and ViP halls, duty free shops, bars and cafes, pubs, restaurants, PTT, banks, rent-a-car offices.
With a ground floor of 16.000 m2 and a mezzanine of 4.000 m2, the International Flights Terminal consists of 3 hallways: A and B are departure halls, an done for arrivals In every departure hall, there are 11 check-in counters and 4 boarding gates. In arrival hall, there are 12 passport counters.
 
Ataturk Airport domestic flights terminal 
Opened for service in September 9, 2000, in order to meet the increasing passenger number, the passenger capacity is increased to 7,5 million from 2,5 million. There are 9 passenger bridges, 5 baggage conveyors, 108 check-in counters, restaurant, cafes and sales stands inside the Domestic Flights Terminal Building, covering an area of 60.000 m2. The security checks are made via 12 x-ray devices found in entrance doors and in many different security check points, and also with gate detectors. Domestic flights terminal is connected to the international flights terminal, to storey car park and to the metro station with tunnels having marching bands in order to provide a fast and comfortable transportation for the passengers.

Route: Depending on the traffic, from airport, the service takes the E5 or E6 roads. The same route is taken while coming from Kadıköy to the airport as well. 
Drop off points: Kozyatagi Havas¸ Tourism Office.
Duration: about 1,5 hours.

Taksim  
Departure points: Taksim, Metropolitan Art Gallery (20 mt. ahead of THY office)

Shuttle schedule: From the airport: between 05:00 and 06:00 by the hour, between 06:00 and 23:00 in every half hour. The last shuttle is at 23:00. However, there are additional shuttles between 23:00 and 01:00 in every half hour. In addition to these, there are additional shuttle services after 23:00 for domestic flights of private airline companies. From Taksim: shuttle services between 05:00 and 06:00 by the hout, between 06:00 and 23:00, in every half hour. Between 23:00 and 01:00, in every half hour, there are additional sevices. 

Route: Ataturk Airport, Bakirkoy Seabus Port, coast road, Aksaray, Tepebasi, Taksim. 
Drop off points: from airport to Taksim, at Bakirkoy Seabus Port, Aksaray and Tepebasidir. 
Duration: about 40 minutes

Note: Between 24:00 and 06:00, 25% increased fee is charged. 

 
Etiler / Akmerkez  
Departure Point: Akmerkez Mall, next to parking garage entrance

Shuttle schedule: From the Airport: between 07.00-23.00, in every two hours

From Akmerkez: between 06.00-22.00, in every two hours

Route: Ataturk Airport, E-5 road, Bahcelievler, Merter, Okmeydani, Zincirlikuyu, Akmerkez Mall.
Drop off points: From airport to Akmerkez, respectively at Merter, and at Okmeydani.
Duration: About 45 minutes
Ticket fee: 9 TL (VAT included)  

 
Bakirkoy (Seabus Port)   
Departure point: Bakirkoy Seabus Port.
Shuttle schedule: from Airport: there are shuttle services to meet every seabus service. 20 minutes before the arrival of seabus from Bostanci to Bakirkoy, a shuttle departs from airport. Route: Ataturk Airport, Yesilyurt crossroad, Galeria, Bakirkoy Seabus Port.
Drop off points: from Airport to Bakirkoy, at Galeria Mall.
Duration: About 15 minutes
